Secret Pal is....

Metal and Knit from Australia!! She sent me all kinds of goodies. I especially love the yarn, it is nothing I've seen before its all made in Australis. There is a skein of Patons Big Baby in white, its a fingering weight yarn and very soft. Then there is Patons Zhivago Baby in lilac. And 4 skeins of Cleckheaton Cocoon, its also a baby yarn (fingering weight) in white. Its 70% australian Merino and 30% nylon. I will be using that to make something for me since I can't use wool for the babies here. Oh well. A skein of Magic stripes which I've already made into 2 balls so I can started on another pair of socks. There was also some chocolate, a pen, a pretty necklace, a mini boomerang, and a toy for Ronin which he has already ripped up (that means he liked it). Oh yeah and 2 really cool towels, one with australian recipes (I think I'll skip the kangaroo tail soup) and the other has maps on it.

This has been so much fun, I can't wait to see what she sends next.

PRGE Contest

This is part of the Punk Rock Gift Exchange. Our buddy is supposed to send us their 3 favorite songs and we are supposed to match a project or a yarn to each song. I will admit this was a little hard but fun. So here goes:

1. I Remember You by Skid Row.

I chose the partner mittens because of the line " Remember yesterday, walking hand in hand". With these mittens you can do that. Unfortunately the pattern is a PDF so I couldn't get a picture of the project to share, you'll have to click on this link to see them.

2. Before the Dawn by Judas Priest.

This was the hardest song to do but I think I have found the perfect yarn to go with it. The theme of the song is having to leave the one you love. For this I found "bruised heart" colorway at Etsy.

3. Beth by Kiss.

I chose the Guitar Man Socks for this song since he is in a band.

Ok Pally I hope you like these.
Ciao!!

and the secret project is.....

Socks for my mom for her birthday!! I can finally post about these damn socks. First I should start with the fact that moms birthday is February 3 and I just gave to socks to her yesterday. I started them early enough to have them for her b'day but I got the flu while about halfway thru the first one. Then the second f#%&#n sock just would not cooperate. I did the ribbing then got about 2 inches or so into it and made a mistake. Because of all the yarn overs it was hard to frog and pick up the right amount of stitches. So I got back to where I was and made another mistake. This time it had to be ripped out completely. Now I finally get thru it, hold it up to the first sock and the foot is about an inch shorter than it should be. GRRRR!!!! There was a lot of cursing going on at this point. I decide I will give them to her, let her try them on and make a second sock to match which ever one fits. Sort of like Cinderella except Cindy got her prince and I got a pair of socks that d…

New Toys

This is my new espresso maker. I also got a milk frother. I'm trying to learn how to make the perfect Cappucino. It's slow going. I think todays was probably the best. Not too strong, just the right temp, not too sweet or unsweet. Yes, I know, not a word. But back to the coffee. I tried it with just the regular coffee I use in my coffeemaker but it ended up tasting like too strong coffee. So I got a can of espresso and it is much better, it has the right taste. Now I'm just working on exactly how much coffee to use. I'll let you know when I've perfected it.

I haven't done much knitting this week. I'm working on bunny hats for the hospital. The nurses love holiday stuff for the babies. I'm crocheting them because it goes faster and they said they need as many as I can make. I'm trying to figure out what my next knitting project for me. Probably socks since I only have sock yarn right now. Most of my yarn stash is acrylic stuff for charity. I…
